PHYLOGENETICS

I use phylogenetic tools to trace back the evolutionary history of morphological and natural history traits in butterflies and to test macroevolutionary hypotheses about diversification regimes. I am also interested in using museum specimens in high throughput genetic analyses.

INSECT SEXUAL BEHAVIOR

One of my main research interests is insect sexual behavior. I am especially interested in how conflicting intersexual interests can affect male and female interaction.

BUTTERFLY CONSERVATION

I have developed projects focused on efforts for measuring biodiversity and conservation of butterfly species, mostly in the heavily endangered Brazilian biomes of Mata Atlântica and Pampa.
